Mintsoft users see huge order volume increase during Black Friday 2024

Wowzer! Black Friday 2024 has turned out to be a huge opportunity for online retailers, with record-breaking online sales reported!

We’ll examine what’s been disclosed so far, as well as some of our own insights based on Mintsoft user data, but first, let’s quickly recap on what was predicted for Black Friday 2024.

Black Friday 2024 Predictions:

Statista forecasted that UK shoppers would spend £9.15 billion in 2024, with nearly £2 billion expected to be spent online.

While IMRG forecasted that the 8-day Black Friday week would experience a decline of -1%. As last year, the industry declined -1.9% after their prediction of -2%.

In our 2024 E-commerce Peak Season Benchmark Report, we predicted that Mintsoft users would continue to experience order volume growth, but at a slowing growth rate, based on the decline we’d seen in 2022 and 2023.

Now, let’s take a look at what actually happened!

Black Friday 2024 Results:

Two large retailers have released press articles, announcing they’ve had the biggest Black Friday period yet. 

Shopify reported that over the Black Friday – Cyber Monday weekend, they saw $11.5 billion in global sales, which is a 24% increase from 2023.

Additionally, they’ve disclosed: 

  • 76+ million consumers worldwide bought from Shopify-powered brands
  • More than 67,000 merchants had their highest-selling day ever on Shopify
  • Top selling countries were US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germa
  • Hottest product categories were Clothing Tops, Cosmetics, Fitness & Nutrition, Pants, Activewear
  • 91M+ packages globally were tracked on the Shop App

Amazon also confirmed that its Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday holiday shopping event—from November 21 through December 2—was its biggest ever.

They reported that customers bought millions of Echo and Fire TV devices, including the newest models of Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K, two of the event's best-selling products. And that this event was also the largest ever for independent sellers (mostly small and medium-sized businesses) in Amazon’s store, as more than 60% of sales in Amazon’s store during the event were from independent sellers.

We’re also pleased to report that based on our analysis of the orders processed via Mintsoft, retailers and 3PL’s using Mintsoft also had a very successful Black Friday 2024 – let’s take a closer look at some of the stats.

Mintsoft Order Volumes Continue to Grow for Black Friday 2024

Mintsoft users saw another jump in the total orders received during the 8-day Black Friday week (25th November 2024 – 2nd December 2024), compared to the previous years, with over hundreds of thousands of additional orders being processed via Mintsoft this year.

 

We’re thrilled to have had our growth predictions proven wrong as our users’ order volume growth has more than doubled from 2023!

Orders dispatched during Black Friday 2024

When comparing the orders dispatched during the 8-day Black Friday week to previous years, we noticed a continued trend of increased volume every day, with Cyber Monday continuing to be the largest dispatch day!

Overall, Mintsoft users dispatched 36.04% more orders during this period in 2024, compared to 2023.

When we looked at the volume of dispatches from October 24, versus 1st November through to Cyber Monday (2nd December 2024), there was a significant increase of 24.03% in monthly volume, with over a 1 million more orders being dispatched November – Cyber Monday. 

In comparison to 2023’s increase of 35%, this suggests that Black Friday sales this year, may have started earlier, therefore the increase in volume is experienced prior to 1st November.  

*please note, November 24 data is inclusive of Dec 1st & 2nd 2024, to include Sunday of BF week and Cyber Monday.

Mintsoft users experienced high growth during Black Friday 2024

Overall, Mintsoft’s 3PLs and online retailers have experienced a huge order volume growth of 36.76% this Black Friday, and we’re thrilled to see that they’ve had a huge peak in ecommerce sales this year, despite the forecast from IMRG, and the signs of slowing growth in our own data.
