Who are Flexi-Hex?
Flexi-Hex are a sustainable plastic-free packaging brand, founded by brothers, Will and Sam Boex in 2018. They specialise in packaging for surfboards, bottles and smaller fragile items such as cosmetics and electronics.
Flexi-Hex are a growing packaging brand trusted by drinks companies such as Bombay Sapphire and Brewdog, large online retailers such as Moonpig and specialist surfboard marketplace Pyzel.
The Challenge
Following an article about their product featured on a popular surfing website, Flexi-Hex’s business took off and as demand grew, they released they needed an integrated software solution to help run their business and operations.
Previous to adopting any of The Access Group software solutions, Flexi-Hex were using manual processes and disconnected systems, such as:
- Using spreadsheets for stock management
- Performing manual stock takes, prone to mis-counts
- A CRM that was best suited for marketing and was due to be removed from the UK market
- Manually picking, and raising shipments to dispatch sample orders
Strategy Director, Bella Collins said, “When I joined Flexi-Hex in 2020, things were very disjointed. We were using lots of different software and we decided that we needed to work really efficiently as a small team and therefore our software needed to work really hard for us.”

Prior to adopting Mintsoft, Flexi-Hex were fulfilling their own sample orders. Visiting a small storage facility near their Porthleven office to picking, packing and shipping samples themselves. As the business grew, this process became timely and unmanageable with the volume.
The Solution
Flexi-Hex decided to move their sample order fulfilment to their 3PL warehouse. Adopting Mintsoft enabled Flexi-Hex to communicate directly with the warehouse for the fulfilment of orders.
Their third-party logistics partner, Radius Warehouse & Logistics also use Mintsoft, and the two systems transfer order data for quick and seamless dispatch.

What's next for Flexi-Hex
Co-founder and Managing Director, Will Boex said, “We’re B-Corp certificated and this is really important to us as we offer sustainable, protective packaging solutions that can replace single use plastics like air-sacks and plastic bubble wrap.”
“The certification is not only important to us, but also to our customers – many B-Corp businesses want to partner with other B-Corps. Our packaging not only protects the product, but can also elevate the end-consumers experience.”
Recently, Flexi-Hex have had their bottle packaging approved by DPD, the UK’s largest parcel delivery network, meaning their customers can now use Flexi-Hex bottle packaging within the DPD courier network. Their entire box range is currently in proof of concept testing with DPD.
Flexi-Hex are now turning over, over £1 million a year and have ambitions to be a globally recognised brand within the packaging space and to do that, they’ll need to accelerate their growth plans.
