Success Stories: Green Fulfilment
Green Fulfilment replaced their existing warehouse management systems with Mintsoft, to enhance warehouse productivity and strengthen their core value of providing eco-friendly third-party logistics services.
Who are Green Fulfilment?
Green Fulfilment are a UK-based third-party logistics provider specialising in D2C and B2B order fulfilment, shipping goods nationally and internationally. First established in 2016, they now have 5 warehouse facilities, 3 in Glasgow and 2 on the outskirts of London.
Green Fulfilment differentiate themselves by being ‘Green’, not only in name, but also in their practices, focusing on offering eco-friendly logistics services to their clients, and achieving B-Corp certification in June 2024.
The Challenge
Prior to adopting Mintsoft, Green Fulfilment were using other systems for their warehouse and order fulfilment operations. While these systems were seen as adequate, Green Fulfilment were seeking improvements above and beyond the capabilities they already had.
Co-founder and Managing Director, Ruhksar Ahmed said: “Technology wise, we found Mintsoft to be far more superior than what we were already using. For example, the scanning facilities where we could scan the products, scan at the time of pick, and at the time of packing - just that one single improvement would make a big difference in terms of the accuracy of the stock and the orders going out.”
“After we made the decision to move, the process was fantastic. We had the salesperson that we were speaking to and there was an onboarding manager, who was dedicated to us. The entire process was managed very professionally and we were very happy with the way things progressed.”
The Solution
Once they had implemented Mintsoft, Green Fulfilment began to benefit from the enhanced functionality they’d anticipated from the new system.
Paperless picking
Previously Green Fulfilment’s picking operations were paper-based – which was problematic for them due to the production of a lot of paper-waste, the associated cost of paper and printing, as well as slowing down operations as they needed to manually update their systems to log transactions.
Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer, Cain Fleming said, “We moved straight away to the scanning based system, using scanners to pick and also to facilitate transfers within the warehouse and a lot of other functionality that we didn't necessarily have. When you're using Mintsoft, you're scanning something at a click of a button - the transaction is happening in live time which is a huge advantage for us.”
In addition, Deputy Manager, David Connery said, “Mobile scanning is much more efficient and cost effective, and saves an awful lot of time in the warehouse. Day to day, we switch the computers on, find out how many orders we have and start allocating orders to the scanners to begin picking. We can allocate picks to certain people which is much more efficient.”
Stability
The warehouse management systems Green Fulfilment had previously used were not always reliable in terms of uptime and integrations. They experienced carrier connections cutting off and trouble retrieving orders from customer’s sales channels which would impact fulfilment operations and delay orders.
Cain Fleming said, “Since moving to Mintsoft, that has changed for us. Orders are syncing in, there's generally no issues with the connectors or carrier labels, so we're shipping orders on time in full at a 99.5% accuracy rate.”
Client Management
Mintsoft’s 3PL client portal gives Green Fulfilment the flexibility and transparency needed to communicate effectively with every one of their clients. Green Fulfilment’s Account Manager, David is able to quickly train each client how to use the portal depending on their own unique requirements. Through their own login, clients are able to access:
- Order information
- Product information
- Stock levels within the warehouses
- Run custom reports
- Self-serve queries
Account Manager, David Shaw said, “The customers love using Mintsoft, all I’ve had is positive feedback. Mintsoft is so versatile and flexible, that we can change the process depending on the client, to meet their needs.”
Sustainability
Green Fulfilment are able to utilise Mintsoft’s data via API to truly differentiate themselves in the 3PL market, by importing it into their custom-built sustainability tool to track the carbon footprint of every parcel dispatched from one of their warehouses.
Cain Fleming added, “We're able to calculate the carbon emissions from start to finish, from when it leaves the building to the end recipient, what's the estimated carbon for that shipment, and we're able to report that back to the end customer.
That really helped us with becoming a B Corp and becoming B Corp certified. Being able to measure scope one, two and three emissions is key for us and key for the country in terms of business in general because we want to drive down carbon emissions overall.”
What’s next for Green Fulfilment
Green Fulfilment continue to grow their business across the UK through acquisition. During their most recent search, Green Fulfilment made Mintsoft a requirement for any 3PL they were looking to acquire.
Ruhksar Ahmed said, “Mintsoft has become a bit of a benchmark in the industry as it's so widely used across the third-party logistics sector. It's a huge benefit for companies like us who were looking to grow. It was fantastic because there was so much choice - so many other third-party logistics companies already use Mintsoft. It was a big benefit for us from the acquisition and growth point of view.”
Additionally, Green Fulfilment’s ambition is to be long-term partners with all of their clients, by providing a solution that offers comfort and confidence to their clients, so they don’t need to seek new fulfilment partners every few years.
“Mintsoft provides us that facility and foundation - scalability for us and for our clients is not a problem.”
